The developer company Baykar announced that another critical milestone has been reached in the development process of the country's first unmanned fighter aircraft Bayraktar Kızılelma.
The announcement said that the first engine integration test of the first prototype of Bayraktar Kızılelma, which was conducted by the Technology Leader of the company Selçuk Bayraktar, has been successful, bringing the jet closer to its first flight.
SIMILAR PROCESS AS IN AKINCI
There was a similar process in the company's other project, Bayraktar Akıncı unmanned aerial vehicle.
Akıncı, which completed its first engine integration test on September 1, 2019, took its first flight on December 6, 2019.
After its first flight, Akıncı took its place in the inventory on August 29, 2021, approximately 1,5 years later.
FIRST FLIGHT IN 2023
The test process of Bayraktar Kızılelma will be continuing with the land tests as it is planned to perform its first flight in 2023.
Bayraktar Kızılelma is expected to be revolutionary, especially with its landing and taking-off capabilities in short-tracked ships, like Türkiye's another project TCG Anadolu, taking upon itself an important role on overseas missions.
AIR COMBAT WITH AGGRESSIVE MANEUVERS
Unlike other unmanned aerial vehicles, Bayraktar Kızılelma is capable of aerial combat with aggressive maneuvers as in manned fighter jets, and it is expected to turn the scales on the battlefield with this feature.
With the low-level radar detection due to its design, Bayraktar Kızılelma is expected to complete the hardest missions successfully.
The unmanned fighter jet, with its expected 6 tonnes of take-off weight, will be using all kinds of national ammunition and be a great power factor with its 1500 kg of useful load carrying capacity.
Bayraktar Kızılelma will also have an AESA radar integrated into it, which will allow it to have high situational awareness.
