World's most powerful solar telescope photographs Sun's surface
The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope on the Island of Maui in Hawaii observed the intricate details of sunspots and the movement of plasma in the star's atmosphere up to about 20 kilometers away.

In terms of distances, a single solar convection cell averages 700 square kilometers. Thus, it's bigger than many European countries.
