At the CES 2023 event, the company provided a live demonstration of the hardware in action, however, they have not announced a release date or pricing for the product yet.
The device appears to be more like a kitchen appliance, similar to a smart bread bin, rather than a traditional drone used for security. Its size is slightly larger than what was shown in Ring's demonstration videos. It has a unique design and makes noise similar to a toy drone.
Ring's team explained that the device will be able to cover one floor of a home, typically the ground floor.
The device will be trained by physically moving it around the home, creating flight paths and waypoints. This will allow the device to check specific areas such as the back door or the stove, without having to wait for it to cover the entire home.
It can be set to stop in mid-air and rotate to survey a specific area if something appears to be wrong.
The device will be controlled through Ring's existing app, instead of requiring a separate app.
Ring has not yet announced a release date for the device, but the fact that prototypes are being demonstrated suggests it is nearing release.
