Ottoman legacy on the Drina River in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Constructed on the Drina River between 1571 and 1577 during the era when the Ottoman Empire ruled the region, this bridge with a prayer niche is considered one of Mimar Sinan's most significant legacies in the Balkans.
This historic bridge, which has managed to remain standing through the centuries, also inspired Bosnian writer Ivo Andric's novel "The Bridge on the Drina," which earned him the Nobel Prize.
