The UK-based The Economist magazine has released its annual Worldwide Cost of Living report.
The report, which examined 172 cities, was based on rent prices, food and beverage and energy costs in the cities.
More than 400 products and services were compared with more than 400 prices.
According to the study, living costs in the world's major cities increased by 8.1 percent on average this year.
It was stated that the supply chain, which deteriorated after the Ukraine war and the coronavirus pandemic, played a major role in this rise.
NEW YORK TOPS THE LIST FOR FIRST TIME
It was noted that the highest inflation in the last 40 years in the US caused this increase, as New York and Singapore were the most expensive cities in the world this year.
Last year's first, Tel Aviv, fell to third place. Moscow came 37th, while St. Petersburg was ranked 73rd. Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was not included in the research.
