Attack on Swedish embassy in Iraq: uilding set on fire
In the Iraqi capital Baghdad, groups affiliated with the Sadr Movement, led by Shiite religious and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr, gathered in front of the Swedish Embassy building and stormed it in protest against the anticipated event involving the desecration of the Quran tomorrow.

In the late hours of the night, groups affiliated with the Sadr Movement gathered in front of the Swedish Embassy in the capital city of Baghdad, Iraq, to hold a protest demonstration.
After a while, the protests spiraled out of control, and the demonstrators broke through the concrete barriers that were set up around the embassy premises and entered inside.
A part of the embassy was set on fire.
A large number of security forces were deployed to the area.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister condemned the attack on the Swedish Embassy.
The Iraqi government has instructed security forces to swiftly identify the perpetrators.
The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks and announced that the embassy personnel are safe.
It was emphasized that Iraqi authorities are responsible for the security of diplomatic personnel.
The protests continued outside the embassy in the morning hours as well.
