EU to soon decide on suspending trade deal with Israel

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced on Thursday that the European Union is considering suspending a trade agreement with Israel. Borrell revealed that the decision will be made soon, following discussions within the bloc prompted by a request from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar to review trade agreements with Israel, as conveyed in a letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Thursday that the bloc will soon decide whether to suspend a trade agreement with Israel.

Borrell told reporters ahead of a NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels that the bloc discussed a review of trade agreements with Israel, which Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar requested in a letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
