Ukrainian drone hits Ozon logistics complex in Orenburg, causing fire

A Ukrainian drone attack on Orenburg, Russia, damaged an Ozon logistics complex, causing a fire but no casualties, after drones were shot down over the city's industrial zone.

A Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Orenburg damaged a logistics complex operated by online retailer Ozon early Sunday, causing a fire but no casualties, local authorities said.

Several drones were shot down over the city's special economic zone, where industrial enterprises are located, Orenburg Mayor Albert Yumadilov said on the Russian social media platform Max.

Debris from the downed drones fell on the territory of Ozon's logistics complex, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished by emergency crews, he said.

More than 300 employees were evacuated from the facility following the incident. No injuries were reported, and operations at the warehouse were temporarily suspended.

Ozon said it was temporarily not accepting deliveries to the Orenburg warehouse.

Goods stored at the facility would be removed from the marketplace's listings while the warehouse's operations remain suspended, the company said.

The Orenburg airport had earlier imposed temporary restrictions on aircraft takeoffs and landings amid the drone attack.

The incident marked the second Ozon warehouse to be affected by a drone attack in two days. A company facility in Russia's Samara region caught fire following a drone attack on Saturday.

Meanwhile, firefighters continued battling a large warehouse fire in St. Petersburg's Pushkinsky District at 135 Kolpinskoye Highway.

The blaze, which broke out overnight, had spread to 82,000 square meters and was assigned a Level 4 fire severity rating, according to the St. Petersburg branch of Russia's Emergencies Ministry.

A total of 217 firefighters and 65 pieces of equipment were deployed to fight the blaze, including 132 personnel and 42 fire engines from the federal Emergencies Ministry.

No casualties have been reported, according to preliminary information.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense systems shot down 328 Ukrainian drones overnight.
