Chinese, Malaysian prime ministers meet in eastern China, discussing trade ties

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday hosted his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim in Hangzhou, capital of eastern Zhejiang province, for talks on trade and economic cooperation.

Li said China is willing to deepen economic cooperation with Malaysia, advance Belt and Road projects such as the East Coast Rail Link, boost trade and connectivity, and expand cooperation in emerging industries, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.

"China is willing to work with Malaysia to promote the in-depth and substantive development of a high-level strategic community with a shared future to better benefit the people of both countries," he said.

Anwar, in turn, voiced Malaysia's willingness to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as infrastructure and artificial intelligence, and said Kuala Lumpur attaches "great importance" to its comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

"Malaysia is willing to join hands with China to make greater contributions to regional and world peace and development," he said.
