'Potentially catastrophic' hurricane makes landfall in Mexico: NHC

Hurricane Otis made landfall early Wednesday near Mexico's Pacific beach resort of Acapulco as a potentially "catastrophic" Category 5 storm, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Hurricane Otis made landfall early Wednesday near Mexico's Pacific beach resort of Acapulco as a potentially "catastrophic" Category 5 storm, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Otis was packing maximum sustained winds of 165 miles (265 kilometers) per hour when it came ashore, the NHC said.
