U.S. President Joe Biden will host Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar on Friday for a bilateral meeting, the White House said on Tuesday.

White House spokesman John Kirby, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, said the two leaders would reaffirm their support for the 1998 Good Friday peace deal for Northern Ireland.

The White House separately added that the leaders welcomed the recent agreement struck late last month by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the European Union on post-Brexit trade rules for Northern Ireland.
