Speaking during the inauguration ceremony for the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underlined, "We have diligently worked through our relevant institutions to alleviate the hardships faced by the people of Gaza due to the blockade. Today, we proceed with the guiding principle that 'a just peace benefits all parties'."
In his speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted several important points:
"I am delighted to join you today for the inauguration of the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church, whose foundation we laid together in 2019. My heartfelt wishes go out to the Assyrian community, and I extend my congratulations to all who contributed to this endeavour.
Our collaborative efforts with the administrators of the Assyrian community ensured that the necessary steps were taken to make this project a reality. It serves as a shining example of the reforms we have undertaken since 2022.
While discrimination persists against our brothers in the Balkans, we have consistently opposed such practices and have prevented any discrimination against diverse religious groups.
To date, we have successfully registered 1,084 real estate properties in the name of community foundations. Additionally, we remain committed to the restoration and construction of places of worship belonging to religious minorities.
Our country boasts a rich history of allowing different cultures and beliefs to coexist harmoniously. We remain steadfast in our commitment to this tradition.
We unequivocally condemn any attacks on people's sacred values under any pretext.
Jerusalem holds a unique place in history. What was once a symbol of peace and well-being for centuries has regrettably become associated with tension, occupation, destruction, and usurpation.
We firmly believe that lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a final resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In times when much of the world remained silent, we chose to speak the truth. We urge all parties to avoid actions that could further escalate tensions.
Our relevant institutions have made every effort to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza due to the blockade. Today, we act in accordance with the principle that 'there are no losers in a just peace'."
