All measures have been taken for a safe university exam in Turkey over the weekend amid the coronavirus outbreak, the president said on Friday.

"The outbreak unfortunately affected the exam calendar in our country, like everything else. The new date is set as a measure against the [virus-driven] uncertainty," Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told young people whom he met via social media.

"The exam date has been set for June 27-28. Thus, the students who prepared for the exam according to the first intended date [July 25-26], have been prevented from getting stressed for nearly a month more unnecessarily," he said.

Erdogan advised the students who will take the exam to focus on questions and their goals.

There will be a general lockdown on June 27 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (0600-1200GMT) during the exam.

The lockdown will also be in effect on June 28 between 9.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. (0630-1230GMT).
