U.S. outraged by American's espionage conviction in Russia - Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed the trial in Russia of US citizen Paul Whelan, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for espionage, calling his treatment "appalling" and demanding his release.
