8 civilians killed in YPG mortar attacks on Turkish border town: official

Eight civilians were killed and 35 injured in a mortar attack by Kurdish forces on a Turkish border town on Friday, the local governor's office said. The attack hit the town of Nusaybin in Mardin province, according to the officials, quoted by Turkish media outlets.

Eight civilians were killed and 35 wounded when the YPG militants launched a mortar and rocket attack on Turkey's Syrian border town of Nusaybin, the governor's office in the southeastern province of Mardin said on Friday.

The wounded were taken to hospitals in the region, the governor's office said.



Turkey on Friday stepped up its air and artillery strikes on the bloody-minded PKK's Syrian branch YPG in northeast Syria, focusing mainly on an area further west along the border region.
