A Turkish aid agency provided iftars (fast-breaking meals) for 500 orphans in northern Pakistan on Tuesday.

Turkish Red Crescent organized the dinner at the Arjuman Faiz-ul Islam Orphanage in Rawalpindi, a city in the northwestern region of the Punjab province.

Speaking at the event, Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, Turkey's Ambassador to Pakistan said: "It is very nice to start this Ramadan together."

Iftars are organized by Turkish Red Crescent every year, according to Yurdakul.

Ibrahim Carlos Camilo, the head of Turkish Red Crescent delegation in Pakistan, told Anadolu Agency that 500 orphans and needy families will be provided with iftars.

Turkish Red Crescent will distribute 2,000 packages of food in Pakistan this year and will also host iftars for disabled, orphans and widows during the Ramadan.
