Turkey's state-run aid agency provided disabled children in eastern Algeria with wheelchairs, the agency announced on Wednesday.

During a two-day international symposium, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) supplied 50 wheelchairs to children with cerebral palsy in the El Qued province, according to a TIKA statement.

The international symposium initiated by local Algerian NGOs included participants from 12 nations, it said.

Cerebral palsy is a disorder of movement, muscle tone, or posture, typically caused by damage to the brain before or at birth.

Established in 1992, Turkey's government-run aid agency is responsible for implementing the country's developmental cooperation policies overseas.
