Saudi Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz passes away at 88

Saudi Arabia's Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, father of billionaire investor Alwaleed bin Talal and a vocal supporter of reform in the ruling al-Saud family, has died, family members and Saudi media said on twitter posts on Saturday. The 87-year-old senior member of the royal family had been ill for several years. He lived in exile abroad in the 1960s after urging a transition to constitutional monarchy, but later returned to Saudi Arabia.

Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, a member of the Saudi royal family, died on Saturday at the age of 88, according to Saudi news channel Al-Arabiya.

His death was confirmed by his son Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal on Twitter adding that condolences will be received for three days starting Sunday.

Born in 1931, Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, held many senior government positions in Saudi Arabia. He is considered a supporter of reform in the ruling family and resigned from the Allegiance Council in 2011.

He is the father of Saudi billionaire al-Waleed Bin Talal.
