German Chancellor Angela Merkel described US President Donald Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal as "a cause of great concern and also a cause of regret."
Merkel told an audience at a Catholic congress in the western German city of Muenster on Friday that the agreement was "anything but ideal."
Chancellor Merkel said in her speech that they needed to discuss with Iran how the nuclear deal can be saved without the United States.
Nevertheless, it was "not right ... to unilaterally revoke such a deal," she added.
