A group of right-wing extremists attacked three dark-skinned men in the western German city of Dortmund, hitting them and kicking them as they fell while trying to escape, police said on Friday.

The group of around 10, who are known to police as extremists, called out racist insults at their victims in the incident on Thursday evening. They also hurled a post at the three men.

Witnesses called the police, who took four suspects, aged 18 to 23, into custody. A warrant of arrest had already been issued for a 20-year-old woman in the group.

The three victims of the attack, aged 23 to 31, were not seriously harmed, although the 23-year-old lost his mobile phone in the fracas.
