A video footage on Friday revealed Turkish commandos raised a Turkish flag on Darmiq, a mountain in Syria's Afrin, liberated from PYD/PKK during Operation Olive Branch.

The mountain, which is located opposite to Turkey's southern Kilis province, held a strategic importance.

Commandos liberated the area after conducting an air and land operation.

The footage was shot by a soldier of the 57th Commando Battalion, who announced the capture of Mount Darmiq in the video.

The commandos can be seen on the peak at the end of the video.

On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch along with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to clear PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin, northwestern Syria.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity.
