Muslim Scholars mourn Turkish Quran reciter Hatipoğlu

The International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has mourned prominent Turkish Quran reciter Abdullah Hatipoğlu, 88, who died on Sunday.

"We received with hearts full of belief in our Allah's destiny the news of the death of our dear brother Sheikh Abdullah Hatipoğlu," the IUMS said in a statement on Monday.

Hatipoğlu was laid to rest in Istanbul on Sunday and his funeral was led by IUMS Secretary-General Ali Al-Qaradaghi.

Hatipoğlu was one of the most prominent reciters of Quran in Istanbul's landmark Fatih mosque.
