In the Greek capital of Athens, a group protesting austerity measures occupied the building of the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

Some protestors, out of the hundreds gathered in front of the ministry's building at the call of the All Workers Militant Front (PAME), closed the building's entrances in a symbolic occupation.

The activist group, who occupied the building in the Syntagma square in the city center, hung a banner on the front of the building that read "May 17 general strike against The IMF-EU and Government's new thieving."

The country's top public and private-sector trade unions called for a general strike on May 17 against the additional measures in the country's relief package.
