Turkey opens borders for Syrian refugees to celebrate eid at home

Syrians head home from Turkey to celebrate eid. Happiness reflected in their faces, as thousands of Syrians from Turkey returned home to celebrate Eid al Fitr.

After the Turkish government announced it would give Syrians the right to return if they wanted to go home and celebrate eid, 110,000 migrants from different parts of Turkey, including women and children, flocked to the Öncüpınar border gate in the southeastern province of Kilis.

Police took strict security measures around the border gate as ambulances waited around the area in order to intervene in the event of a medical emergency.

No mass passage through the border had been permitted for a year due to security concerns.
