Israeli police scuffle with Arab activists protesting demolition of Bedouin Village

Israeli police on wednesday scuffled with Palestinian activists who were protesting the planned demolition of a Bedouin Hamlet in the West Bank.

Police could be seen dragging a handcuffed woman along the ground and carrying a Bedouin man.

Mustafa Barghouti, Palestinian Parliament member: "The Israeli army is viciously attacking peaceful demonstrators here in Khan Al-Ahmar, they beat many many people including women and children, they arrested more than 10 people, we had to transport at least four people who were seriously injured, one with very serious head injury. This is a vicious, barbaric attack on peaceful demonstrators and they are trying to demolish Khan Al-Ahmar. This is an act of ethnic cleansing that people are standing against, but they are using terrible violence against peaceful demonstrators."

The village is set to be demolished on an unknown date.

Critics say it is nearly impossible to get building permits, and that the residents are being removed to clear the way for Jewish settlements.
