Israel airstrikes on Syria

Israel has reportedly conducted a total of 5 air strikes in Syria.

The target of the strikes was an arms depot of the shia militant group Hezbollah.

The Air strike was near the Damascus airport road about 25km from the capital, early on Thursday.

Opposition activists posted pictures online showing a huge fire near the area.

Rami Abdurrahman, head of the UK-based Syrian observatory for human rights, said the blasts were heard across the capital, jolting residents awake.

The targeted depot was full of a significant amount of weapons sent by Tehran to the Syrian regime.

Israel had previously conducted repeated air strikes.

In May 2013 Israel hit three areas in Damascus suburbs, allegedly to eliminate Iranian arms delivered to Hezbollah.

Damascus airport was also bombarded in May 2013.
