Panama-flagged cargo ship splits in two due to powerful storm in Zonguldak

The Panama-flagged dry cargo ship, which was first stationed at Ereğli Port, sustained structural harm and divided into two sections as a result of the intense storm in the area. The portion that washed onto shore then struck the concrete walls of the port, resulting in damage to the nearby amphitheater.

The crew of a ship, which broke into two and was washed ashore during a storm in Zonguldak's Karadeniz Ereğli district, has been successfully evacuated.

The Panama-flagged dry cargo ship, originally anchored in Ereğli Port, suffered structural damage and split in two due to the powerful storm in the region. The section of the vessel that was washed ashore collided with the concrete walls of the port, causing damage to the nearby amphitheater.

In response to the incident, Coast Guard personnel and firefighting teams were promptly dispatched to the scene. The 13 foreign nationals aboard the ship were successfully evacuated and relocated to Ereğli Teachers' Lodge.

Ongoing efforts by the teams involve securing the area and implementing necessary safety measures.
