Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdağ on Tuesday visited the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park as part of his visit to Japan.

Turkey's ambassador to Tokyo Hasan Murat Mercan and Mehmet Güllüoğlu, the head of Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) are accompanying Akdağ.

"Turkey and Japan have a lot to learn from each other in terms of disaster prevention," Akdağ said.

He also said that children in Japan are trained to be prepared for earthquakes, which makes them learn how to deal with them.

Akdağ also met with Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Keiichi Ishii.

On Wednesday, Akdağ is expected to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and Interior Minister Seiko Noda.
