Turkish gendarmerie seized 4 kilograms (9 pounds) of cocaine and one kilogram of heroine, in anti-narcotics operation on Wednesday, according to a gendarmerie official.
Opium chewing gums were also recovered during the operation, said the official, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Two suspects, who were arrested during the operation, were later remanded in custody.
The official said that the operation was conducted on intelligence information that a large amount of cocaine has been brought from abroad and would be distributed in Istanbul to minor dealers by A.B., who is remanded in custody.
