Harry Kane scored his second Bundesliga hat-trick in a row and third overall as Bayern Munich bounced back from a mid-week German Cup debacle with a 4-0 statement triumph at big Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Rampant Bayern were two goals up after nine minutes in Dortmund in a show of force in the wake of Wednesday's 2-1 shock defeat at third tier Saarbrücken in the Cup.

Centre-back Dayot Upamecano returned from injury to give determined Bayern a fourth-minute lead with a thumping header off Leroy Sane's corner kick. Five minutes on, Leon Goretzka, also back from injury, ran unchallenged through midfield, passed the ball back to Sane whose low cross from the left was tapped in by Kane.

England captain Kane converted off Kingsley Coman in the 72nd, and wrapped up matters in stoppage time to go top in the Bundesliga scorers' chart with 15 goals in 10 games. He also got a hat-trick in last weekend's 8-0 demolition of Darmstadt and earlier in a 7-0 over Bochum.

Bayern moved within two points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen who won 3-2 at Hoffenheim in the afternoon, with the top two undefeated all season. Dortmund in fourth suffered their first league season defeat, are seven points off the top in fourth, and winless in the league against Bayern in now 10 Bundesliga matches.
