As many as 155 more aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Tuesday.
The humanitarian group said the trucks were loaded with vital supplies, including medicine and medical supplies, food items, water and relief supplies. But fuel shipments were not allowed.
Since Oct. 21, a total of 1,135 aid trucks have been allowed to enter the besieged Palestinian enclave. But the number is far from addressing the needs of those affected by the Israeli onslaught.
Under the Israeli 16-year blockade on Gaza, 500 trucks of goods, including 45 fuel trucks, used to enter Gaza daily, but that all stopped since the outbreak of the fighting in Gaza on Oct. 7. It has left Gaza with a severe shortage of all basic commodities, including fuel that is badly needed for hospitals.
At least 11,240 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air and ground attacks since Oct. 7, according to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities. Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches, have also been damaged or fully destroyed.
The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, stands at 1,200, according to official figures.
