The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, announced on Wednesday that they had destroyed an Israeli military vehicle that had infiltrated Gaza City's southern Zaytoun neighborhood.
In a statement, Al-Qassam said: "We destroyed an Israeli military vehicle that had infiltrated east of the Zaytoun neighborhood with a Yassin 105 shell."
They added that the vehicle caught fire, providing no further details.
The Israeli army has not issued an immediate response to Al-Qassam's statement.
On Tuesday, Gaza's Interior Ministry said Israeli military vehicles had "deepened their incursion" into the northern and central parts of the Gaza Strip.
This week the Israeli army has expanded its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise offensive against Israel on Oct. 7.
The death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 8,525, the Health Ministry in the blockaded enclave said Tuesday.
More than 1,538 Israelis have been killed in the conflict.
