Italian actor Michele Morrone visits Türkiye's quake-hit region

Italian actor Michele Morrone on Saturday visited Hatay, one of Türkiye's southern provinces affected by last month's earthquakes.

"So today we came to the city of Hatay which is one of the cities that has been affected by the earthquake and we got some food, some toys and some clothes for the kids. We are going to be spending a day here and our job is to ... try to make them forget what happened a month ago just for a couple hours," Morrone said on Instagram.

He stressed that the earthquake victims need urgent support.

Traveling through tent cities, Morrone spent time with the children and handed out the gifts he brought.

More than 49,500 people were killed in Türkiye by magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 quakes that hit on Feb. 6, according to officials.

Over 13.5 million people have been affected in Türkiye by the massive quakes which struck the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Osmaniye, Sanliurfa, and Elazig.
