Security forces have killed five PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Sirnak province, the local governor's office said Wednesday.

In an operation backed by aircraft, security forces targeted a PKK group planning an attack on troops in the Behranci valley northeast of the provincial capital, the statement said.

Two women were among the terrorists killed.

Later, the Interior Ministry announced the deaths of a further 10 terrorists in operations across the country.

In a statement, the ministry said a total of 15 terrorists, including a Daesh member, had been killed by security forces on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Alanici, a mountain village in the eastern province of Mus, four terrorists were killed and a wounded terrorist captured on Wednesday during an ongoing operation.

Five others were killed on the Sahgul plateau in neighboring Agri province's Diyadin district.

In the Mediterranean city of Mersin, a Daesh terrorist wearing an explosives vest was killed outside a police station in the Yenisehir district.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.

Turkey has also suffered from a number of attacks by Daesh, including the Ankara train station bombing in October 2015 that killed more than 100 people.
