Turkey and the Turkish people will not let terrorist organizations to exploit differences and polarize society, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday, in response to the recent terrorist attack by a Daesh gunman who killed 39 people at a popular nightclub in Istanbul.

"We have the power to cope with these attacks" Erdoğan said, noting that the main goal of terrorist attacks is to set people against one another by exploiting existing fault lines in the society.

The president highlighted that Turkey will not fall for such plots and Turkish people will keep their unity and solidarity despite differences.

"All our citizens need to approach the issue with a responsible mindset and speak and act accordingly" Erdoğan said.

He highlighted once again that nobody's lifestyle in Turkey is under a threat and that the Turkish state would never let it happen: "In 14 years in power, we have never given this a chance" he added.

Erdoğan continued by saying that Turkey will punish everyone who try to polarize society through exploitation of ethnic, sectarian and religious differences, and their supporters equally.
