Istanbul will miss historical bridge of Galata

After serving Istanbul for 80 years, bridge of Galata completed its mission

It was mentioned that the historic bridge was taken to the shipyard for repair. It is not yet clear how to evaluate the bridge after renovation.

After serving Istanbul for 80 years, the old Galata Bridge, which had been taken from Ayvansaray-Hasköy after the restoration, was removed from the place where the fire started. Today, and started at a restaurant below.

History of Galata Bridge, formerly called Cisr-i Cedit , was first built in 1845 as a wooden building.

But in a short time the old-fashioned bridge was renovated in 1863. A new bridge was built on the floats on the sea. This bridge was opened to the public in 1912. In 1914, an electric connection was provided via this bridge in between provinces of Eminönü and Karaköy. After the construction 1987, bridge was overlooking the Golden Horn.
