Turkey's president criticizes the United Nations for its delay in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
"We have seen how ineffective the existing global mechanisms have been during this crisis," Erdoğan said in his address to the UN General Assembly.
"It took weeks, even months, for the Security Council, the most fundamental decision-making body of the United Nations, to include the pandemic on its agenda," said Erdoğan, who regularly calls for UN reforms.
"The fate of humanity cannot be left to the will of a limited number of countries," he added, referring to the five permanent members.
