Turkey provides Eid meat to 360,000 Sudanese families
"[Turkey] slaughtered 9,000 calves in Khartoum and other Sudanese cities, including Nyala, al-Fashir, Dilling, Kadugli, Port Sudan, Kassala, al-Qadarif, Midlaj, Sennar and Suakin," the Turkish Embassy in Khartoum said on Twitter.
The embassy said the meat assistance was donated by the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, the Turkish Red Crescent and other Turkish aid agencies.
The Turkish aid and benevolent agencies provide different forms of assistances to poor families worldwide, especially during religious occasions and festivals.
On Eid al-Adha, one of the two main Muslim holidays, people who can afford to slaughter an animal do so and distribute most of the meat to the needy, neighbors and relatives.
Relations between Ankara and Khartoum have greatly developed in the past two decades.
