Far-right candidate Marine Le Pen has never been so close to winning election in France
French incumbent president Emmanuel Macron and far-right-wing candidate Marine Le Pen are the top two leaders in the first round of the 2022 presidential election. Macron won 27.8 per cent of the valid ballots cast, while his rival le pen won 23.2 per cent.
