United Nations warns Afghanistan economy on brink of collapse
"The event on 15th of August resulted in a freezing of the foreign reserves, and the suspension of development, and on budget assistance and the consequences have just been devastating. The economy is on the brink of collapse here in Afghanistan," Mary-Ellen Mcgroarty -- WFP representative and country director in Afghanistan -- said in a statement.
