The coronavirus infections tally in Nigeria has reached 41,804, health authorities announced on Wednesday.

"On the 28th of July 2020, 624 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria," the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said in its latest update.

To date, 41,804 virus cases have been registered, including 18,764 recoveries and 868 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, it added.

The commercial capital Lagos, Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) and southwestern Oyo state have recorded the most cases.

Meanwhile, authorities in the West African country issued guidelines for the congregational Eid al-Adha prayers.

The citizens have been advised to pray outside, wear masks, observe physical distancing and avoid hugs and hand shakes. People above age 60, and those who are sick are asked to stay at home.
