US VP Mike Pence calls on allies to keep promises on defence

"America and Poland will continue to stand with all of our allies for our common . America and Poland will also continue to call on our allies to live up to the promises that we've made to one another," US Vice President said in his speech during the commemorations of the in the Polish capital Warsaw.

The United States will continue to call on its allies to meet their common pledges when it comes to , US Vice President Mike Pence said Sunday at commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

"America and Poland will continue to stand with all of our allies for our common defence. America and Poland will also continue to call on our allies to live up to the promises that we've made to one another," Pence said in Warsaw.

"The American people and the Polish people know that a strong alliance of free, strong and independent nations is the best defence of our freedoms. Now and always," Pence said.

The US has repeatedly demanded that members of the NATO military alliance invest more money in defence to meet a 2014 pledge made to dedicate 2 per cent of their GDP to defence spending.
