The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday called on member-states to cooperate with Turkey against the FETÖ terrorist organization.

The appeal was made in a draft final statement released upon the conclusion of the 14th session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC member-states, which convened Wednesday in Moroccan capital Rabat.

The draft statement -- which calls for adopting tough measures against FETÖ-linked entities, groups, institutions and individuals -- was approved by the OIC's political and foreign relations committee.

"We strongly condemn the violent coup attempt that took place in Turkey on July 15, 2016," the draft statement reads.

It goes on to call for an international conference to discuss the ongoing fight against terrorism and to establish a universally-accepted definition of terrorism.

FETÖ is widely believed to have orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey, which left 251 martyrs in its wake.

Ankara also accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the Turkish state through the infiltration of government institutions, including the military, police and judiciary.

The OIC conference, which kicked off Monday, is slated to wrap up Thursday
