Turkish aid agency opens sports complex in Tanzania

Turkey's state aid agency completed the constructions of basketball and volleyball courts for a high school in Dar Es Salaam province of eastern Tanzania, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said in the statement that Turkish Ambassador in Tanzania Ali Davutoğlu, TIKA's country coordinator Hikmet Özdenoğlu, along with local lawmaker Mussa Azzan Zungu, school staff, students and their families attended the opening ceremony of the facility at Tambaza High School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zungu thanked Turkey for its support, stating that bilateral relations between Turkey and Tanzania is strengthening each passing day. He also applauded TIKA for giving the opportunity to youngsters exercising in such a modern environment.

A student of the school, Baraka Nikosefa also said: "I have always dreamed of becoming a successful basketball player. With this court, my dream does not seem unreachable. Thank you Turkey.''
