Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay will pay a three-day official visit to Sudan on Monday at the invitation of his counterpart, Oktay's office said on Sunday.

Oktay will meet Sudanese First Vice President Bakri Hassan Salih during his stay in the Horn of African country, which begins on Monday.

During his visit, Oktay will discuss with his counterpart and other officials regional and international developments, as well as bilateral relations and cooperation.

Deals and agreements made between the two countries during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Sudan visit last December will also be discussed.

Oktay also will attend 15th Turkey-Sudan Joint Economic Commission meeting in the capital Khartoum.

Following last year's historic visit by Erdogan, the two countries have worked to increase their overall trade volume from $500 million to $10 billion.

They have also signed 12 separate cooperation agreements in the fields of security, tourism and military cooperation, while Turkey was contracted to rebuild a dilapidated Ottoman-era seaport on Sudan's Suakin Island and a dock for civilian and military use.
