Chas killed 22 and left 12 missing after hitting north-central Vietnam, authorities said on Monday.
The dead included 11 in Yen Bai province, four in Son La, three in Phu Tho, two in Thanh Hoa, while Lao Cai and Hoa Binh each reported one dead, the National Committee for Search and Rescue said in a report.
Six remain missing in Yen Bai, two in Son La, three in Thanh Hoa and one in Phu Tho.
Son-Tinh made landfall in Ha Tinh and Nghe An province on Wednesday night. Wind speeds have been recorded at 75 to 90 kilometres per hour (kph), the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported.
More than 5,000 houses were partly damaged or destroyed, while nearly 6,000 houses were submerged.
The agriculture sector experienced widespread damage, with 6,455 cattle and 106,008 chicken, ducks and other poultry killed.
The typhoon was downgraded to a tropical depression Thursday morning as it headed toward Laos, but reversed direction and once again pounded north-central Vietnam.
