At least four people are dead and 192 missing after a ferry sank earlier this week in Lake Toba on Indonesia's Sumatra island.

Muhammad Syaugi, head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), said Thursday that the number of those missing had been updated based on reports from their families.

Syaugi said 18 people have been rescued so far.

The Ministry of Transportation said search and rescue work would continue for seven more days with around 400 personal.

According to authorities, the ferry sank Monday due to bad weather and an alleged violation of the passenger capacity limit.
