Two Turkish soldiers were martyred and another was injured in an attack by PKK terrorists in southeastern Hakkari province, security sources said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the provincial governor's office said the terrorists carried out a rocket attack at around 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) on a military convoy passing from a military command in the Çukurca district, bordering northern Iraq.

The statement said two soldiers were martyred and one more soldier was injured in the attack.

An air-supported operation has been launched to capture the terrorists in the region.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and EU.

In its terror campaign against Turkey, which has lasted for more than three decades, over 40,000 people have been killed, including women and children.
