"TIKA [the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency] implements 2,000 projects a year," said Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Çavuşoğlu on Tuesday.

Çavuşoğlu, in a live interview with A News, a private television channel, slammed opposition parties' campaign to discredit the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

"By providing development cooperation in destination countries, TIKA has won the favor of the local population and has become smiling face of Turkey," he stressed.

He hailed the works of the agency by noting it had launched "20,000 projects" since its establishment in 1992.

TIKA is a state-run aid agency that currently has 60 offices in 58 countries.
