Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has donated 15 buses to Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital Sarajevo.

The buses were delivered on Tuesday to Sarajevo Public Transportation Company (GRAS) by Istanbul Electricity, Tramway and Tunnel General Management. They were brought in coordination with Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

A handover ceremony was held in Sarajevo, attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Sarajevo Haldun Koç, TIKA Vice President Birol Çetin, Turkish lawmaker from Istanbul İsmail Hakkı Turunç, Bosnia and Herzegovina Minister of Transport Mujo Fiso and GRAS Director Avdo Vatric.

In terms of development and prosperity, Koc said, Turkey has always given a great importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"During President [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan 's visit, these issues were discussed. Turkey gives great importance to unity, integrity, stability and development. Witnessing 15 buses from Turkey on Sarajevo streets just two days after Erdoğan 's visit is a clear sign for it," said Koc.

On the occasion, Turunç said that they are donating buses to many cities in the world but they have been donating the most to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Our tie with Bosnia and Herzegovina is higher than mountains and deeper than oceans," said Turunç .

The total number of buses sent from Istanbul to Sarajevo so far reached 60.
